It's another October weekend... which means it's another October themed beer. This week, I'll be sipping Fernie Brewing Co's Ghostrider Pumpkin Brown Ale...
This is a very sleek, and cleanly done label. The colours are layered artistically, and very professionally. I love the font used- and the dark colour used for it. It contrasts nicely with the lighter orange colours, without being too blatant.
It really appeals to the minimalist in me in terms of art styles. It's smooth, and crisp, while still giving a sense of autumn and the pumpkin flavor involved.
I would have to say that this is probably one of my favorite beer labels I've come across in my years of enjoying craft beers.
Fernie Brewing Co's Ghostrider Pumpkin Brown Ale has a nice rich, dark colour that echos the shadows that a real ghost rider would emerge from. The head of foam is pretty decent as well- not too thick, and not too thin. I'm partial to darker beers, so the deep darkness of this brew was a nice sight to see- and hinted at a rich flavor.
The first sip wasn't a disappointment. Despite the darkness, this ale is actually quite light- a pleasant surprise. The pumpkin flavor isn't too overpowering, and is nicely balanced with the cinnamon and nutmeg spices used. Just a really refreshing, and relaxing ale from the first sip to the final drop sliding across my taste buds.
While I probably wouldn't drink more than one in an evening, I would have very little problem having second bottle after a day or too. I also wouldn't be adverse to drinking it at other times of the year as well. Fernie Brewing Co's Ghostrider Pumpkin Brown Ale is truly an enjoyable craft beer that deserves to be savored when possible- and lands a spot in "The Good".
