Apollo 18 (2011)

Space is a big, wonderous place. Unless you're in a horror movie that is... Unknown to the world, the cancelled Apollo 18 mission of 1974 did occur.  Three astronauts went to the moon on a secret military mission, only for things to go horribly wrong.  This is their footage... and their terrifying story ... I wanted to see this movie because of the premise: Astronauts go to the moon, and discover we are NOT alone. The story was blah.  The story was dull.  The story was boring. The characters were blah.  The characters were dull.  The characters were boring. The actors were blah.  The actors were dull.  The actors were boring. The aliens were blah.  The aliens were dull.  The aliens were boring. The movie was blah.  The movie was dull.  The movie was boring. I think you can guess where this movie's going... Yep.  Right into " The Ugly "

The Last Broadcast (1998)

In 1999, the world was presente with with one of the first "found footage" style films, " The Blair Witch Project ".  The year before, however, there was a lesser known one released... " The Last Broadcast ". While filming a documentary about the "Fact or Fiction" murders, David Leigh receives a box with the mangled remains of a video cassette.  Believing that this tape holds the evidence needed to solve the grisly murders of the TV show hosts- Steven Avkast, Locus Wheeler and Rein Clackin, he enlists the aid of data retrieval expert, Michelle.  Was it the Jersey Devil- the creature the "Fact or Fiction" crew was hoping to catch on video... or something far darker than any of them would believe? For a low budget film, this one was done quite well.  I liked the documentary style of storytelling they used.  Even though the characters aren't developed much, you do come to like the hosts of "Fact or Fiction".  The acting w...

Paranormal Activity

What would you do if unseen forces started to harass you in the still of the night? Micha and Katie are a happy couple living together, when they start to experience strange noises. Using a video camera he just bought, Micha is determined to catch whatever is disturbing them each night. What they both discover is something that may be related to Katie's childhood... and the entity that plagued her family... "The Blair Witch Project", with its success in 1999, spawned a new category of horror film- the "Found Footage" style of film making.  Using "found footage", the story is told from the more "personal" look at the characters and the events surrounding them.  One such example is 2007's "Paranormal Activity", and in a world of YouTube video watching is a great example. This supernatural horror movie is almost as low budget as you get: hand held video camera, cast working for $500.00, and the Director's home as the se...
