We Now Return You to Your Regularily Programmed Program...

Hey, folks!  I hope you all had a good October (and enjoyed the articles I posted during it), and a good November! I recently went on my annual ten day vacation/retreat at my best friend's cabin.  While there, I watched and read a bunch of horror stuff.  Upon my return, I started to draft up my reviews, with the intention of transcribing them to the blog here, and getting back into a regular schedule of posting! Well, I'm proud- and glad, to announce that I've finished transcribing them all, and have set up the schedule for them. You will find now reviews and articles here every Tuesday and Thursday at Noon (Pacific Standard Time)! Yah, me! In addition, you'll be able to read non-horror related articles from me every Monday and Wednesday over on " We Came From the Basement " at about 5:00 pm (Pacific Standard Time). Woo Hoo! NOT ONLY THAT, THOUGH! Nooooo… there's more! I will also be making a concerted effort to post weekly on my persona...

Vacation and Backlogging

Hey everyone! Just a quick post to let everybody know that they can expect to see a bunch of reviews being posted soon. How is this possible given the rather erratic schedule and the lengthy "hiatus" I've been on? One word: "Vacation". That's right, I'm going on vacation.  I'll be taking ten days off from work, and retreating to my friend's cabin in the woods (no Necronomicon Ex Mortis, though).  I'll be taking that opportunity to indulge in watching some horror movies, reading some horror books and comics, and listening to whatever it is in the trees that stalks the living. I'm also going to take a bit of time to do up some preliminary sketches and concept art for t-shirt graphics. Anyways, I'll see you all when I get back in ten days!

Buy! Buy! Buy!

Well, everyone, it's February 2015, and it's time for a fresh update! This month marks our four year Anniversary of blogging (including the hiatus last year). Well, to celebrate, we're announcing the grand opening of our online store - where you can buy cool " Terror Gear "! We're starting out with your basic items, with plans on adding specially made products down the road. Be a "real" man- buy this shirt! We currently have Mens Tops in various styles and colours- all of them with our logo on the front, and our banner on the back! I've tried to make the mark-up value on the items low enough in order to make them all as affordable as possible as well. One thing to note though, is one the site, you'll see a white square around the logo and banner.  For some reason CafePress does this, even though the white area is actually a transparent area- so when you get the item, the background will be the same as the shirt itself.  I...

Scary New Years! 2015

Happy New Year's everyone! The last time we posted on the blog was waaaaay back in April 2014- for which I apologize.  My job has a pretty irregular schedule, and my hours are odd to boot. But rejoice!  We're back from the dead again, with a plan to bring you the same great content we did before the break... as well as some ideas on how to bring you some other cool stuff over the course of the next year. And beyond. For starters, I'd like to welcome three new contributors to "The Corner of Terror"!  If you've ever read reviews on "We Came From the Basement", you'll know them:  Jason H, Matt B, and Suzanne WC.  Starting in February, you can expect to see a couple of reviews each month from them!  Yay! I've placed over on the right a schedule of when reviews, features, etc will be posted each month.  This will hopefully make it easier for readers to know when to visit the site for new reading material. "What Movie Wednesday...

The Corner of Terror... Back From the Dead!

Greetings, everyone.  You may have been wondering where I've been, and what I've been doing since about March 2013... and why this blog went dead. Well, Life has a way of taking you out of the game for a while- and such is what happened to me.  A combination of a new job and moving resulted in my having to put my reviews in Limbo for awhile. Now, however... I am rising from the grave to bring you more reviews of horror movies, books and games! There will be some changes occurring over the next couple of months.  Some of those changes are: "What Movie Wednesday"- Due to the way my work schedule is set-up, I don't have every Wednesday off- so I won't be able to do my weekly voting and tweet-along.  To make up for this, I will be creating a page here that will show a schedule of tweet-along dates, 24 hour tweet-along dates, review postings, and any other special events that I might be able to conduct. Navigation-  I'd like to make things a little...

I've Been Plotting and Planning...

During my recent hiatus from the site, I have been adjusting some of my plans in regards to the blog.  A few things have been delayed, others will continue forward with only minor disruption, and a couple of brand new ideas have sprung to mind. I was hoping to launch my " Radio TCoT " project this October, but I will have to delay that until the end of May.  Until then, I'll use the time to learn and tinker with my sound editing software so that when I DO launch the podcast, I can present you with a decent product. With the new computer, I can once again resume work on " Project Terror Wear "- which is what I've named the ongoing development of hoodie and t-shirt designs for the site.  I have a couple of designs already created, and am working on getting them actually produced for sale.  I'll be posting sneek peaks of these designs over time, and will keep you all updated on this project. The first new "episode" of " What Movie We...

Gremlins and the Deluge...

It has been a long 2 1/2 months since my last blog post here.  For that, I am sincerely sorry. July 15, which saw my last blog post, also saw us get flooded.  A valve on the hot water tank broke, and the water spread throughout the basement.  The damage amounted to the following items: The bathroom lino had to be replaced; The sink cabinet had to be replaced; The kitchen lino had to be replaced; The kitchen cabinets had to be replaced; The carpet outside the bathroom had to be replaced; The carpet by the laundry room had to be replaced; The living room carpet had to be replaced; The carpet in the two bedrooms had to be replaced; and A good chunk of the wall in my bedroom had to be replaced. That wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been plagued by computer problems as well.  Those included: Hard drives not being detected; Read disk errors with the hard drive; Blue screens of death; Computer freezing up; Sound card problems (including one insta...

Oops!

I made a bit of a mistake in my post yesterday when I reviewed " The Legend of Lucy Keyes ".  It's an error I'd like to take this opportunity to correct. Normally, at the bottom of my " What Movie Wednesday " feature reviews, I include a Shout Out to the people that voted for the featured movie.  Unfortunately, this week, I forgot to do so. So, better late than never, here are my Shout Outs to those that voted for " The Legend of Lucy Keyes "! Special Shoutout : I want to thank everyone that participated in my " What Movie Wednesday " feature Big thank you to the following people who voted for " The Legend of Lucy Keyes ": Redfeather Freeman; Jenny Deol; Shawn (from " We Came From the Basement "); Ricky Russel; Zoey Emily Onyx; Jason Wiggins; Tony Goodner; Maria Esparza; Loralee Judge Elgene Mang-Gyver Tiamzon; and @GeorgeTurner15 I also want to take this opportunity to announce that " ...

Wanna be a "TCoT" Fashionista?

You've all heard me hinting that I've been working on some T-Shirt designs, in addition to coffee mugs, etc, right? Right. Well, I'm still in the process of getting a few things in place to begin production and distribution- but I figured it was about time that I gave all of you a taste of what I've got in mind. What you see here is one of the T-Shirt designs I've done.   Pretty cool, eh? Darn straight it is! I hope to have about a total of five finished designs ready for when the store is finalized online.  If you're in the Kamloops, BC area, I'll be letting you know which outlets have them for sale as well. I've also got what I call the "Special Edition" Zip Hoodie.  These will be used a promotional items for interview guests- and for contests that I have in the works.  To keep you in suspense, I'm going to keep the design a secret until the first contest starts! I know... I'm evil. Hehehe... Please f...

"Grave Questions" Will be Asked!

Most readers are probably (hopefully) already familiar with one of the regular features of this blog- "What Movie Wednesday."  Right?  Right. Well, since the response to that feature has been good, it's about time that I add another regular feature- "Grave Questions".  In this feature, I'll be asking various horror related people questions... and they answer.  Or at least I hope they answer- as not doing so would make the articles really short. What sort of horror related people will I interview?  Well, I hope to talk to people who produce and direct horror films, people that star in horror films, people that write horror stories, host horror websites, host horror related podcasts, etc. I plan on doing this feature once a month if possible, so stay tuned for more! Some people will have noticed that the title banner at the top of the site has changed.  It's the first of some of the organization changes I'm going to be implementing over the c...

What Movie Wednesday!

This past Wednesday, I started a new interactive feature for my blog- " What Movie Wednesday "! "What is this new feature about," you ask?  Well, let me tell you. Every Wednesday, I will be posting on my Facebook group page , my personal Facebook Profile , Google + ,  and Twitter a bit of a poll.  In the poll, I will be asking YOU, the reader, which of three possible horror movies I should watch that night for review.  At that point, you will then be able to vote on which movie I watch.  The movie that gets the most votes wins (natrually). The polls will be posted at 12:00 am (Pacific Standard Time) every Wednesday morning, and voting will continue until 7:00 pm that same day.  At that time, I will announce the winning movie, and begin watching it.  I'll also be doing a bit of a running commentary of the movie on Twitter while watching it.  The next day, I will sit down and write my review of the movie here.  At the bottom of the re...

Corner of Terror Finally Has a Logo!

As those of you that read this blog on a regular basis know, I recently celebrated my 1st year doing this blog, and that I updated the graphics on the site.  Well,  If you look in the lower left corner (or at the top of this post, actually), you will see the logo I just did for this blog.  Woo Hoo! I call it, "Zombie Stew". I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on this simple, but (in my opinion) charming symbol.

2012- Scarey New Year!

Today marks the beginning of a new year... in fact, it marks the beginning of the last year according to the Mayan Calendar.  I'll have to remember to stock up on beer for it. Anyways, as those of you that actually keep track of this blog probably noticed, I stopped posting just after Halloween.  My life had just gone through a bit of a change around that time in that I had just gotten a job that had working alternating shifts that pretty much screwed up my sleep patterns.  If I wasn't working, I was pretty much sleeping.  I simply didn't have the time- or the energy to post my reviews here... nor was I able to do the Twitter commentary for my friends at "Film Reviews From the Basement" during their radio broadcasts.  Hell, I haven't watched a horror movie since Halloween. It really sucked. Well, 2012 has been marked by another change in my life- I got laid off.  On one hand, it bites since I no longer have a steady pay cheque, and some of the thin...
