Meridian: Kiss of the Beast (1990)

Sometimes, a director/producer will surprise you- such was the case during " Terrorpolooza 2012 " when I watched Charles Band's " Meridian: Kiss of the Beast " Catherine Bomarzini has come home after her father's death.  Needing company, she asks Gina to stay with her.  Soon, the two meet a wondering troupe of performers that Catherine invites to dinner at her castle. Catherine find herself pulled into a love triangle and an ancient curse that only she can break. After watching movies like " Evil Bong ", and " Demonic Toys ", I really wasn't expecting too much from this Charles Band movie- but I was pleasantly surprised by it. The story is actually quite interesting with lots of potential for eerie scenes, and character development.  It's a nice twist on the classic " Beauty and the Beast " story.  It's a bit slower than most of Band's other works, but moves smoothly and draws you with it. I have to ad...

Demonic Toys (1992)

A couple of weeks ago, I had a " What Movie Wednesday " double feature, with " The Witches Mountain " being one of the movies, watched... and " Demonic Toys " the other... After her partner and boyfriend is killed in a bust gone wrong, police officer Judith Gray chases the killers into a warehouse where toys are stored.  When one of the criminals is killed, it awakens a slumbering evil that'll use anything it can to get what it wants... including your sweet adorable teddy bear ... " Demonic Toys " is brought to us by Charles Band- who also made " Evil Bong ".  Knowing that, I wasn't really expecting much from this movie.  I have to say though, that I certainly found this one more entertaining that the previous one I'd seen from him. The story is simple, but fitting for a B-movie like this one.  It certainly provided a decent enough skeleton for the demon possessed toys to go on the rampage they do.  This movie was m...

Evil Bong (2006)

Cult classics are great films- and the horror genre is filled with them.  They usually use their humour and off-beat storyline to attract a following... sometimes with good cause. Room mates, Alister, Larnell, Bachman, and Brett order a bong advertised as being "possessed," thinking it'd be cool.  Soon after its arrival, the four discover that this bong is more than it seems... and party time may go up in smoke... I got this as part of an 8-pack horror movie set, and wasn't really expecting a whole lot from it.  I mainly wanted to see it because I curious about how they'd go about it... and because Tommy Chong- of Cheech & Chong fame was in it.  I can see, though why it's got the cult status it does. The movie itself is fairly immature, as are the jokes.  The acting, and the camerawork remind me of some of the sort of stuff you'd find in a porno movie (ditto for the sets).  The whole movie kinda seems to be an excuse for pot jokes, and boobies....
